CONTENT

The project and its activities present the marble trout, the work of fishermen and fish farmers, as well as local fish products. It addresses the developmental need to increase the competitiveness of the business environment through new business opportunities and self-sufficiency in fish products via short supply chains. Fish products from locally farmed fish have higher added value and significant market potential. Through the festival, a new channel is created to promote the region and fish products directly to end consumers. Fishing and fish farming are also environmentally sustainable activities that help maintain the genetically pure population of the marble trout.

The newly established Marble Trout Festival will, for the first time, combine four main events within a single festival through innovative intersectoral partnership among co-organizers as part of a joint project: the opening of the fishing season, a professional roundtable, the main festival day in the old town center of Tolmin with a casting competition. With the co-organization of the Municipality of Tolmin, the festival will gain a strong partner capable of providing the human and financial resources to implement the festival every year in collaboration with stakeholders and partners from the aquaculture sector.

The Municipality of Tolmin, in cooperation with RD Tolmin, will oversee the organization and promotion of the festival. The co-organizer RD Tolmin will add professional content to the festival through workshops, an exhibition, the season opening, and the casting competition. In addition to the event itself, the organizers will commission photographic material for the exhibition and brochure, as well as for promoting the region and aquaculture activities more broadly, including at occasions not strictly related to fishing. The partner Faronika d.o.o. will introduce fish flavors to children through a workshop for the youngest and will participate in creating festival content.

The main objective of the project is to organize the multi-day Marble Trout Festival with the aim of raising awareness about the marble trout, its natural habitat, and the work of fish farmers and fishermen. At this public event, the organizers aim to bring aquaculture activities closer to the general public and to hold a professional meeting of stakeholders in the sector.

The purpose and goal of the project are thus to bring the content closer to visitors through the event and, with additional activities (photography, protocol gifts, brochure), actively spread the word about the marble trout beyond the festival and the Soča Valley.

The Marble Trout Festival will be an event to which residents from the Soča Valley LAG area and beyond will be invited through promotional materials. All activities will take place in areas with free public access. The exhibition held at the festival will remain on display for an additional week after the main event, viewable through the ground-floor windows of buildings in the old part of Tolmin. Photos will be presented at the event venue as well as on the project partners' websites. The casting competition will be open and free of charge for all spectators.
